Missing Home

It has been a while since I have posted a blog, and a lot has happened. Its been over a year since I took a flight from Chiang Mai, through Bangkok and Schiphol Airport to land in Birmingham. (That in itself will be another blog entry) going through those airports was weird, as it was at the start of the Covid epidemic , and all the airports were totally empty, not even those multitude of coffee shops/cafes, I was starving too.

I normally spend 6 months at home (Thailand) , and 6 months in the UK working, ( Don’t Judge me ) When I arrived , the second of my mandatory 3 Covid tests , (Which cost me around £200) was positive, which turned out to be a false positive, mmm, great value for money.

The friend I first stayed with, turned out to be a big mistake, and ended up being homeless with all I had with me , and sleeping in my small car, but a great friend came to my rescue helped me out, until I found a place to stay.

Its difficult to explain to others, only one friend and my great wife understands. I have been a single parent for a long time, looking after my son since he was around 5, Not easy being a single father, as you are also fighting against the system, I had prejudice from the schools, other children’s mothers , to mention a few. I looked after my son while I was a serving police officer and family to me means everything.

I mention this, as my son , now in his late 20’s was going through a hard time, both mentally and financially , and as his mother was part of these problems, I was his only support and family. So I decided when I came back to the UK to stay here until all was sorted, ( as well as it can be ) Its not the only reason I have not returned home, I wish it was, but the economy, no thanks to the epidemic, has changed and gotten worse. While before I could work, save money and go home after 6 months, that’s changes, I can just about afford things now. My work pension goes straight to Thailand, as things there are just as bad.

The wonderful thing about marrying a Thai lady, or Asian for that matter, to enter a huge family. Now, I have three new family’s ( I’ll explain some other time , why three ) in Thailand’s and another wonderful son. My Thai son works in IT in Bangkok, and doing well for himself, and my sons get on well together, but it was a difficult for my Thai son and me to start with.

So , as you can see I have been pre-occupied, thus , the reason of my lack of inputs to my site. I speak to my wonderful wife every day, using the Asian app “Line” , its like WhatsApp but used in Thailand.

Work has been up and down for me, but I started a new job (Agency) at the moment, driving throughout the country, which I am enjoying and they are a good company, so lets hope I get a permanent position.

I am looking to return home next year, for 2 – 4 weeks, and that’s what I am looking at , but lets see.
