Back home 2019

Well, here I am back home in Hang Dong, Thailand after just over 6 months working in the UK.

Mmmm, It’s been a funny few months and it seems to be continuing. It’s hard to explain. But, I will try. So, I go back to the UK for two main reason, one is to see my some, and the other is to get some extra money to help back in Thailand, you know, get Air Conditioners etc, which like most family’s have enough to live on but have to work extra for the extras you need.

The work I go to is seasonal and suit me to a tee, but this year has been hard, first of all the exchange rate , pound Stirling to the Thailand Baht has been lowering and as a result my money is work less. Not just me sending money home, but also my pension work, over the past 5 years I have lost about £350 per month compared to when I moved here. The second the company I work for has cut back on overtime, which is what I rely on, as their basic rate for HGV drivers is not good, but made up on by the overtime. So this year has been the worse so far. I will have to see what happens next year. I have looked at other jobs , so I have options.

Personally, it has been hard, there have been challenges and ears I have set myself a goal or two and I have set me, to help Chris , which I have done and he is a lot better. Next year I have to I need to sort out , it will not be easy but doable . I am not going into these , but will update you when I have achieved them,

Most years I have put on weight, due to bad eating when you drive trucks, but this year my appetite has changed and lost weight while in the UK, that, as well as looking the temptation of drinking a lot of beer, which helped my loos weight. The funny thing is I have continued on this while home, so have not been drinking as much and continuing to loose weight. I intend, yes intend to exercise more to help is weight loss, as I believe I have platoed , so need to give my system a nudge.

So, I have not saved much, as a lot of the money I have saved , goes to my visa application and my Thai CRC application , which I need to return t the work in the UK. It seems that the flights seem to be increasing too, so that is a big expense as I pay for me as well as Chris to fly to Thailand.

Chris only spent 3 weeks in Thailand, as he had a job to go back to , so that was a bit sad, but this year was the best 3 weeks we have had. It is always hard when he goes back , and lonelier but that is life here. You have to get use to your own company when you move to another country and away from your roots. It’s a problem a lot of ex pats have problems with .

So I am looking forward to posting more blogs about lots of subjects .
