Just under a month before I go home

Well, its only a few weeks and I will be on a plane and zooming my way back home. I am always surprised on the cost of the flights to Thailand. You can look on these comparison sites one week and in another week find its either cheaper than before or more expensive. A friend told me, and I have found that it was true, if you keep coming back , or clicking on the same site, the price will increase. If you delete the cookies, you will find the priceApparently , if you keep clicking on the same site, on the same destination, it assumes you want that trip and increases the price after a few clicks. So that is something to keep in mind when booking a trip.

So after much searching, mainly by my mate, I have booked with Qatar Airways, then travel from Doha to Bangkok, then spending a night in Bangkok with relatives then the next day on a flight to Chiang Mai. My son will be travelling with me to Thailand, and staying for 4 weeks before returning home alone.

Bnm When I get on that plane at BHX, I will have spent around 6 months working, and to be honest the time in the UK has taken its toll, I am very tired , mentally. And so looking forward to relaxing. I can hear you say, why is he tired? Everyone works. Well that is true, but I do not have a base, a place to come home to and relax. I work and sleep, and do not go out, just save money. So I have had no down time or family to unwind. It does not help much , when you have been working 14 – 15 hour nights , with only 2 days off. One of those being a recovery day from nights.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining, just stating the facts, I decided on my working times and like everything in life, nothing comes free.

6 months is about the right time to work, you have to take into account, that it will be about 1 month or so just to set things up, buy a car, insurance tax etc, rent and get yourself settled, all before you start to save money. Paying for the flight home as well as travel insurance is another cost that adds up. It does not help when the exchange rate had dropped. When I bought my house the exchange rate was around Bht 55 to the pound, its now about Bht 43. The brexit election dropped the Stirling by about a 1/5 th. and it has struggled ever since to recover, but we live in hope.
